Directors Guild of Canada –
Manitoba District Council

The Directors Guild of Canada (DGC) is a national labour organization representing key creative and logistical personnel in the screen-based industries. The Guild was established in 1962 as an association of Canada’s creative film directors, and represents members covering all areas of direction, design, production and editing. DGC - Manitoba District Council (DGC - MDC) represents over 200 members locally in the Assistant Director, Director, Production, Locations, Accounting and Editing departments.

When a production company signs an agreement with DGC – MDC they agree to hire DGC – MDC members. When there are no DGC-MDC Members available, production will review Member Apprentice Program availability lists and MDC Source list to fill these positions.

Requirements for working on a DGC-MDC production:

  • You must be at least 18 years of age

  • You will need a current resume

  • You may require a Manitoba Driver’s License

  • Do you know what kind of job you are looking for? (DGC-MDC represented departments are Assistant Director, Director, Production, Locations, Accounting and Editing)

If you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada, and normally reside in the province of Manitoba, you may apply to join the DGC Manitoba District Council in any job classification they represent. Once you become a DGC Member, you are entitled to work under DGC jurisdiction anywhere in Canada.

IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR AN ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP IN THE DGC MANITOBA DISTRICY COUNCIL, AN INDIVIDUAL MUST:
