Makeup Department
The Makeup Department designs (in consultation with the Director and Production Designer) the makeup and facial hair of performers for a film. The department is also responsible for any and all prosthetic makeup and effects, including scrapes, scars, tattoos, etc.

General understanding and interest in art and design
Organized, creative and able to solve problems
Ability to imagine, research, plan and communicate an artistic vision
Knowledge of the media production industry history
A combination of demonstrated skills such as design of makeup, and design and construction of prosthetic makeup effects, and a knowledge of period hair and makeup .
+ Key Special Makeup Effects Artist
The Key Special Makeup Effects Artist works with the Director and Production Designer to determine the look of the special effects makeup in the production. They are responsible for the purchase, design, construction, and application of special effects makeup. Tasks include ensuring continuity and the removal of makeup at the end of the day. They delegate the work, purchase supplies and manage the budget within the department. They act as supervisor to mold makers and technicians.
+ Department Head Makeup
The Department Head works with the Director and Production Designer to determine the look of the special effects makeup in the production. They are responsible for the purchase, design, construction, and application of makeup. Tasks include ensuring continuity of makeup and the removal of makeup at the end of the day. They supervise Makeup Artists, purchase supplies and manage the budget within the department.

The Second Assistant Makeup Artist assists the department.

Diploma from a recognized Make Up school (minimum curriculum must include: Corrective and Glamour makeup, Age with paint, Age with latex, Human hair beard application/grooming & ventilated pieces, Bald caps, Special Effects, Make Up for Film and Television, Make Up for B & W Film and Photography), or a portfolio detailing self directed study
